I live in Beaverton, Oregon with my husband and one-eyed cat where I spend my time writing (or teaching writing), reading, and playing video games. I studied English and Creative Writing at Oregon State University and received my Masters in Education from Pacific University.
I’ve had the chance to write for both a university newsletter and a local PNW boating newspaper. I’ve worked for an indie publishing house on the Oregon Coast. I’ve had the honor to teach a beginning creative writing course online for adults and in person creative writing camp to students in 3rd – 8th grade. I’ve also spent the last six years providing one-on-one and small group lessons teaching reading comprehension, literacy building skills, and creative writing.
I have always loved the power of the written word to manifest worlds. It has been and will always be magic to me that the right combination of letters can make us see, taste, feel, even smell something that’s not there.
This website is my lovesong to writing, a place to share stories and poetry, a small reprieve from the draining hustle of the world, a pure embrace of the magic hidden in the everyday. My hope is to encourage creativity in you, the reader, in whatever way that means to you. I share my watercolor paintings and writing tips on this website as well in the hope that they inspire.
A few of my favorite things are The Legend of Zelda, hot cocoa, cozy sweaters, rainy days, the smell of wet river rocks, and the deep indigo color of a cloudless sky right before the sun sets completely.
