This week’s watercolor was a fun exploration of watercolor blending with feathers. This is the first time I drew an outline with pencil before I started the painting. Turns out I can draw recognizable feathers! I also realized as I was putting together this post that I completely forgot to paint the little thin lines at the bottom of the feathers. Oh well!

I have a bonus watercolor to include this week as well! I was testing out paper I had bought because it was cheap, before I knew about the differences in paper quality! It definitely buckled when I tried to do multiple washes with it but eventually lay back down flat. It’s definitely a different experience to paint on such smooth paper with no tooth and I’m not sure I liked it. It’s not really a painting since I was just kind of messing around to see how I felt about the paper but it’s the first time that I did something with no guide!

Down below is the guide video I followed for the feather painting. Comment below if you try your own painting. I would love to see your art!
